This flax egg substitute is a great assistant for egg-free baked goods. This substitute is plant based gel with little to no flavor.

Substitute one regular egg with three tablespoons of flax egg.

CHEF TIP: For convenience, freeze the gel in ice cube trays and store in the freezer for anytime an egg or two is needed.

Recipe:
1/2 Cup of Flax Seeds and 4 Cups of Water

1) Place flax seeds and water into a sauce pot and bring to a boil.
2) Once boiling reduce to a low boil and cook for 25 minutes.
3) Strain flax gel.
4) Measure out 3 tbsp increments (the equivalent of one egg) and freeze. Ice cube trays work great for this.

This is a great idea - thank you!

Few suggestions for this video though, trying to be constructive…

Put up the ingredients and instructions on screen along with the video - tell us how long you boiled it for. Was it cooled at any stage?
Include information on how long you can freeze the cubes for
Say what they substitute and how big each cube is - equivalents, ie 1 cube = 1 egg
Tell us what we can use it for.

I had to read through the whole comments section to get all the vital information - just seemed daft that you had to answer all these questions. I promise you if you make the information freely available with the video, people will love it and will say so in the comments - you’d probably get more comments not less!

Thanks for the idea though, I wondered if there was a way to get the goo without the seeds 👍

Thank you for sharing this I just made this to use in bread pudding. Only needed 3/4 cup= 4 eggs, trying to freeze the rest as you demonstrated but the Jell is very hard to pour in ice cube trays even while hot! But two spoons and persistent paid off.
Can the boiled flaxseeds be frozen and used in other recipes later, hate to waste food. Pls.let me know if yes and what can it be used in.

Hi, my name is Luke. In one of the comments below I saw that 3 tbsps of this gel equates to 1 egg. Can you confirm this? Also, I would love to learn more about the nutritional profile of flax seed gel, if anybody can provide any info or point me to any resources. Many thanks! Great product!
