For lore purposes, Doey is a culmination of three children: Matthew, Kevin, and Jack—which was the boy in the first VHS that fell into the machine. Clues of this are the three hands on Doey’s belly, the three heads that poke out of his mouth during the boss fight, and several documents around the factory that talk about 1322A, B, and C. There’s also a lot of clues in the first commercial, go take a look.

I know this is a day late, but Jackie or jack was the kid that was killed in the start, and the parents in the cyan tape were jacks parents. Poppy playtime is an orphanage that makes toys, but also tests on children, which in the second chapter there’s the play place and kids who aced all of the stations were “chosen” to be “adopted” and instead ended up as toys/toy mascots. Sorry I just wanted to geek out about that lmao-

You're not the only one who had this kind of criticism about the gameplay. This game was just underwhelming to say politely. That's what happens when 60% of the development team, including the game's director itself, quits the company and you have to rely on a different company/team of developers to make your game. But yeah, let's hope they take their time to perfect Chapter 5. That being said, happy to see your content again, and congratulations again to you and Gabby for your baby. doey is not a “troubled kid”. He’s made out of 3 children, Kevin the angry one, Matthew the calm one and Jack the kid that fell into the goo on the very beginning. We learn about the kids throughout the game in tapes and letters. That’s why in the boss fight Doey has 3 heads and some other child features, it represents the 3 different children with different personalities
