Honestly I would wager you've got a Karen in the neighborhood with a connection to the office who started something they can't back out of now without giving the game away . No other reason they should be bothering someone about their personal property and their own personal construction on that property. I didn't think treehouse is required building permits and I'm pretty sure they don't.

This is a beautiful work of art. No reason it should be removed.

That is a really cool tree house, what a shame it has to be torn down.

Thanks local media - for featuring a story like this without saying one word about the actual basis for the city wanting to tear it down. That’s journalistic incompetence - on the level of an electrician who forgets to turn your power back on.

this man needs to continue fighting do not back down and homeowners nationwide should support him, especially if this is not an HOA residence or you will be next,

You can have a tree house in any state, but California 😢

Not one mention in this supposed “news story” about WHY the city wants it removed. What is wrong with journalists these days?

Don’t tear it down. Folks let us all go protest this nonsense. The story needs to go viral. This guy needs help.

The community loves this treehouse. It shouldn’t be up to some idiot!!!! behind a desk who doesn’t live in the community to decide.

In building the tree house, Rick Polizzi apparently worked with SO city inspectors to make it safe; spending $40k+. But now the city deemed it an ADU, which requires code permits, soil samples, etc. The build was completed in 2000, predating the establishment of the CA ADU requirements in 2016.

What a shame!!! Especially in these grim days, we need to have our whimsy!

This tree house is only a few blocks from me. It has brought joy to so many people-and the child in all of us. For years the family gave the neighborhood an amazing Halloween treat, with donations for it going to help homeless projects. When social media brought too many people, they were forced to give Boney island up, but at least we had the treehouse. . Why the city attorney should be even remotely interested in this is bizarre: it is not a domestic structure nor an “attractive nuisance “!, so who/what is their complaint? Changes in the neighborhood- and the forces of those changes- should not be able to destroy landmarks!

its about exercising power over people. Not about governing.

If he could import some fentanyl addicts to the tree house and cover it with tarps I bet the city would be unable to remove it. Everyone deserves housing!

Karen's and politicians have nothing to do. Leave, the man alone is on his own property. Harming no one.☝🏾💯
