I first heard Smokestack Lightening in a coffeehouse in Toronto's Yorkville district in 1967, played by a blues cover band. I was just beginning to understand Chicago-style blues. I have listened to the Howling Wolf recording probably 1000 times since then. I saw the band twice live. I always listen to the recording at least twice. I never get tired of it.

Thanks. Thumb on that low E will be a challenge for me, but I hope it is doable.

To keep thumb going in time, I’m using thumb and one finger (clapton claw technique). There’s one part where jon alternates one finger on g string and another finger on b string. I can’t keep my thumb timing and play with two separate fingers, so i just index finger both of the strings together and it sounds close. Great lesson!

Your lessons are decent and well made. But you speak like Don Lapre of infomercial fame. Pretend we're your drinking buddies instead and talk to us that way.
