FROPACK4 is HERE with 14 all-new custom Lightroom presets!!! Check it out

This is a Review and showcase of some of the Sony a9 III's Major Features. The point of this Review is to show you some real-world examples and let you decide if it's game-changing or not. There's still a lot we don't know about this camera as we don't have a full production model available at this time. We've already discovered some weird quirks that Sony didn't fully share and there probably will be more.

Im more blown away from the amazing auto focus on this camera.

Wow. Great camera and great job presenting/previewing it. I knew global shutter was coming but I had no idea it was already HERE! If Canon's R1 isn't going to have global shutter, they might as well not even bother.

It will be a game changer for sure but kinda feels less like photography and more like videography and picking amazing frames. Not that it’s a bad thing, just feels different.

I like the bit at the end that's directed at Canon! Yes, it would be great to have pre-shooting added to the R3 with a Firmware update, no reason why not as the buffer is there to be used.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions that will have to wait until we have a full firmware version. We've already seen numerous times where Sony didn't make some changes clear. As we discover them, we ask about them and then scratch out heads. There's certainly going to be some sacrifices made, what they are, we don't fully know yet.

The air in front of the table tennis ball gets compressed and acts like a lens, in the picture you can see the window frame in the background through this "compressed air lens".

I mean, this is what I wanted, like a “video camera” that does shooting on the side(and it’s better than I imagined in my wildest dreams for the next to be), by this I mean the low rolling shutter. Is so awesome is a global shutter, now you can easily have this one as the main camera and have one of the 60MP Sony cameras for some big images, like moon shots, landscapes, etc. 🎉

Z9 has been doing this for 2 years now. Yeah 12MP instead of 24, and jpg instead of raw. But if you needed 120 fps, we had it. I've never used it though since I don't shoot bullets or arrows leaving bows or ping pong.

It's hilarious as well since Sony already used promo materials for A1 3 years ago showing how stacked sensor completely eliminates rolling shutter distortions, and now somehow you need A9III to get straight lines.

is photography not just becoming video then choosing the best frame? 120 frames per sec that’s a lot of time to select.

I know we're going to have to wait for a production test, but I still want to know about noise. Thanks Jared for a great video. I feel like we're watching an event as significant at "mirrorless", maybe even more.

Great video Jared - esp. concerning the pre-shooting mode and an ACTUAL EXAMPLE! Being an avid hobbyist, I am confused about the 250 ISO limitation. I know under certain shooting conditions, an ND filter would help, but turning the dial to 100 or lower is so much easier. What's your explanation for this? ... and do you perceive any issues with this???

Great music choice when we were “inside the camera”

With pre-capture, it takes the camera industry 8 years to finally leverage what Live Photos did for iPhone back in 2015. Granted photos on the iPhone are much smaller, but I'm glad the concept (pre-shooting) has finally made its way to ILCs.

4:53 Some physics students analyzed the photo and believed it was in fact an aerodynamics effect occurring between the camera and the ball. When the ball spins at a high speed, it drags air behind it. The aerodynamic drag compresses the air and increases its density. That results in a localized change in refraction, and refracts the light slightly more.
It's like a minuscule version of the air distortion behind a passenger jet. You might have seen the effect behind planes at an airport or airshow. Usually you can't see this effect on a table tennis ball because it travels too fast and leaves a trace on photos due to rolling shutter effect.

Thanks for showing and explaining real life benefits of this new technology.

With the olympics coming up and the obvious advantages for sport plus the way that Sony is promoting the camera the perception is that this is only for sports, news and wildlife photographers but I see these new features as also being highly attractive to top end fashion and creative photographers.

interesting that the autofocus completely flaps it at 1.45 in
