Absolutely true, Suunto MC-2 compass is always with me!
My last ditch survival kit consists of a compass, a 4" ferro rod, a storm whistle, and an ESEE Izula II knife.
This is all on 550-cord necklace, which is long enough to be used for a bow drill set.

Navigation is essential. Back-up navigation in the form of a topographical map and compass is the insurance policy we hope we never use but sure are grateful if we need to. 🗺️🧭🌿
