The Price of Champagne Wine... Why is it So Expensive?

What is up guys, this is Julien the French winemaking guy who makes wine videos here on YouTube, including, yes, quite a few Champagne videos indeed.
So there is this Champagne video that the Business Insider just released yesterday that is called ‘Why is Champagne So Expensive’ and it’s a really nice video that covers a lot about Champagne, its history, how it’s made, the climate, the terroir, the fashion, Jay-Z and it’s Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades, I mean, it covers a lot in 7 minutes so if you haven’t watched it I certainly recommend you do.
Now, there is one thing they did not cover very well in there because I guess it goes a little deeper into Champagne making, and that’s a topic that I think is THE most important factor that makes Champagne so VERY UNIQUE in the world of wine, and therefore SO VERY EXPENSIVE compared to any other sparkling wine. And that’s a topic that I covered in detail in a video I made just a few weeks that’s called ‘Champagne’s Secret: The Art of Blending in Champagne’.
It alks about what really makes Champagne rare and expensive, is how in Champagne France they blend not only grapes, 3 different grapes, but also many different vineyards AND also many different vintages, including old vintages, and virtually no other sparkling wine region does this on this scale. I took this example of a Champagne wine that blends 3 grapes, 25 different vineyard location, and hear this well, 35 different vintages! Yes, 35 different years, that’s wines from all years since 1980 but 8.
So, I think it’s a nice video that gives you an in-depth perspective of how special and rare Champagne is, and why it is so expensive, beyond its History and the hype that the Business Insider covered very well.
