The Strange Case of the Glowing Brown Dwarf and Its Moon

In this video, you will learn about one of the most amazing discoveries made by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope: a brown dwarf that glows like a neon sign. A brown dwarf is an object more massive than Jupiter but smaller than a star. It does not have enough mass to start nuclear fusion in its core, so it does not shine like a star. But this brown dwarf, called W1935, showed a surprising infrared emission from methane that resembles an aurora, a phenomenon usually seen on Earth and other planets with magnetic fields and atmospheres. But W1935 has no star to orbit, so what is the source of its glow? This is a mystery that puzzles the astronomers who discovered it. Watch this video to find out what are the possible explanations for this emission and what it means for our understanding of the universe.

Great documentaries!
Subbed! And thank you!❤

Everything you said is quite probable... And I suggest your hypothesis of the large moon theory is most correct...

In the 2nd hypothesis, the CH4 was always on the Brown Dwarf atmosphere right? Or is it plausible that came from a moon?
Is it a moon powerful and active enough in order to release such an amount of charged particles that cause significant effect in such a huge object?

Sometimes things that appear so simple can hide enormous complexities and a brown dwarf could well have a form of life that we are looking for in much more complex structures.

They clearly have all the planets and moons! They are kneading with each other!

Could it be basically a totally volcanic planet, or mostly volcanic? What else does it need to create methine gas? Just sayin' 🤔

Does it have a solar system? Or does it float freely through space?

The answer has to be the second hypothesis

So objects orbiting around a brown dwarf are moons? what about brown dwarves orbiting around a proper star? are they considered planets or in binary with the parent star? Did the IAU or whatever have already sorted criterias for such?

It depends what's around it i guess :P
