Starfield vs No Man's Sky - Direct Comparison! Attention to Detail & Graphics! (4K 60FPS HDR)

Starfield is an upcoming action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game was formally announced during Bethesda's E3 Press Conference in 2018. The game is set in a space-themed world. It will be the first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda in over twenty-five years. The game is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2023 for Microsoft Windows and Xbox Series X/S

No Man's Sky is a survival game developed and published by Hello Games. It was released worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows in August 2016, for Xbox One in July 2018, and for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S consoles in November 2020. A Nintendo Switch port is scheduled for release in mid-2022, while ports for macOS and iPadOS are in development. The game is built around four pillars: exploration, survival, combat, and trading. Players are free to perform within the entirety of a procedurally generated deterministic open world universe, which includes over 18 quintillion planets. Through the game's procedural generation system, planets have their own ecosystems with unique forms of flora and fauna, and various alien species may engage the player in combat or trade within planetary systems.

Starfield- “Over 1000 planets for you to explore!”
No Man’s Sky “ 1000, huh? That’s cute.”

One of the biggest differences is definitely the art style. No Man's Sky is more colorful and cartoonish, but Starfield goes for the more realistic look. Kinda like what we all thought Destiny was going to be.

Starfield looks like it's running at 15fps

No Man's Sky has Light years to explore, meaning not just 1000 planets.

Everything looks more cinematic in Starfield but they never showed us the ability to actually land on a planet with a seamless transition like in No man's sky, so my guess is that whenever you travel to space you get a camouflaged loading screen with a takeoff animation and they send you to a limited space map of the planet's surrounding area where you do limited space exploration and combat and then to land back on a planet you have to pick a landing zone and the same trick plays, you get a landing animation and you probably can't explore the whole planet from pole to pole like in No Man's Sky. To travel from one planet to another you probably will have to do it through a navigation menu in your spaceship like in Mass Effect or Jedi Survivor, I'm thinking the space exploration in Starfield is gonna be like that, closer to Mass Effect with the added ability to fly your spaceship in a limited space map.

In No Man's Sky the whole solar system you're in is a single huge map where you can travel seamlessly between planets or even walk/swim/fly through a planet from pole to pole, you only get the camouflaged loading screen trick when travelling between different systems and galaxies.

The game on the market that most closely resembles Starfield in structure is Outer Worlds. No man's sky should be compared to other space simulators, starfield is not a simulator is a rpg.

One's a game with a redemption arc, quirky 60's style that reminds us of how people percieved space waay back then with a team that didn't ask for more money, repraired and added dlc's for free! Other's a trend-chaser that will probably be Bethesda's headshot cuz probably they're never going to fix it, and charge more money on the dlc's! Let's hope I'm wrong

You have to keep on mind, NMS is released and can be played today.

Starfield is still only a trailer and some gameplay. So to really compare them, wait for starfield to be released.

Starfield be running at 20fps... Not good

If you want to compare them it’s easy to assume starfield will win in story and gameplay but NMS will never be topped for exploration

I don’t reckon there is seamless planetary landings or they’d have shown it

No offense I feel like a Game Journalist was playing No Man’s Sky in this video.
They put the titles on the wrong sides at 2:47, they didn’t engage in space combat
side by side, didn’t customize anything other than the helmet…

TL;DR, watch a gameplay video of NMS instead if you’re interested. This one doesn’t show a lot of the game’s potential.

The WInner:
Graphics: Starfield
Content: No Man Sky
Gameplay; No Man Sky
Replayability: No Man Sky

I will give SF a change but I strongly doubt it will keep me interested

Two completely different genres of space game made by two completely different types of devs, not really a fair comparison by any metric.

People complaining because they’re not gonna play Starfield on their PS5, Ridiculous

I can see the similarities but Bethesda definitely didn’t “steal” anything like a lot of people are saying. It’s a game in space so obviously it will be similar. Only thing that really caught my eye was the mining laser. Other than that it really doesn’t look or play like no man’s sky

One thing I wish No man’s Sky had more of was variety of terrain within the planet!

It’d be cool to have some earth-like planets where multiple ecosystems exists

Just started playing starfield, cant actually explore the whole planet, game has invisible walls, cant really land on a planet by flying your ship, everything is fast travel and cutscenes. Just a big empty game.

When you've spent almost a decade and thousands of hours in nms and elite dangerous, this game is MOST WELCOME to say the least. It's damn near what I've wanted. If it had multiplayer and space flight freedom like elite dangerous I'd be in heaven, but this'll do just fine.
