McAfee has massively improved over the past 2-3 years. Default settings are good, but adjusted it’s very powerful defense.

The days when software bundles meant that a CD was included in the package were good times.
When preparing a new laptop for any customer during the last few years, uninstalling McAfee has been a part of it in about 90% of the cases. Bercause when Intel owned McAfee they managed to make it near mandatory for OEM's to have it preinstalled on regular home user systems. Now that Intel has spun off McAfee it appears to be getting less prevalent, but still quite common.

Can you uppdate Malex so it shows more data about how long the test took?
eg: The test took: 23 hours & 32 minutes. The average detection speed was: 30 seconds, fastest detection was: 5 seconds, slowest detection was: 20 hours.

Thanks for the tests! My students get one of those free trials with their newly bought laptops and I usually recommend getting rid of those because after a few weeks you either need to pay or it becomes more of a nuisance itself. On a positive note, they are apparently decently protected for a few weeks. I still recommend them to use windows defender and common sense though (it at least prevents the compiled software from being deleted every time by mcafee haha). Thanks for doing these tests, I hope you revisit Windows defender in a while again and see if it improved since your last test! Cheers!

I use AVG FREE and it's fabulous! Never had an issue with it and it caught every single malware and worm before infecting my computer!
