Telstar - Kevin Romang - 'Tornados' cover

'Telstar' was released in 1962 by the English band 'The Tornados'. It was written by production genius Joe Meek and was a massive hit at the time. It featured an early synth (most likely) a Clavioline for the lead. I used a 'Stylophone' with added effects for this cover as both instruments sound quite similar. Hope some might enjoy my version! (I created the backing track using the Tyros 5 arranger keyboard)

Well done, thank you! One of my favorite songs. I remember when this first came out. It was a song of hope, we Americans were on the ascendancy. Pres JFK aimed for the moon literally, WW2 was over, economy was soaring, lots of jobs and everyone around the world admired us. Sadly, next year our president was murdered and everything changed. So this song for so many of us then was one of hope but also later on of sadness. This song always brings back those memories for me.

Great Cover of a classic, Really good and you you make that guitar tone sing man, Well Done.
This was my dads favourite song, He heard it when it first came out on the radio but didn’t know the name of it, he sang it over and over to himself and stayed awake all night until he could get to the record shop the next day and sang it for the girl behind the counter, she then told him what it was and so he bought 2 copies of it just in case one got damaged.
