Best way to check for shell in your crabmeat is a blacklight. Shells glow with blacklight

The crab shell glows under a black light. Useful for finding the tiny shards of shell in the meat.

Don't forget a small blacklight. The small bits of shell will glow and make it easier to sift through and remove 👍

We started to use a device called a Teal Crab Cracker to quickly kill and pre-clean the crab before cooking. This prevents cooking in the toxins extracted by the organs, makes it taste better, and easier to clean after cooking.

As a Filipino, this is also how I pick crab, sans the hammer and tweezers. A spoon with the right technique works as a hammer too.
