When I do calligraphy I sometimes forget a letter in one of the words because I'm too focused😂

Hilarious thing was, my friend had conveniently given me, watercolor, brush, pens for my birthday lol. I didn’t know what to do with them, but I saw people learning calligraphy, and then I suddenly realized I had them. I’m starting to learn calligraphy, and this video really helped me! Thanks.

What a great, thorough tutorial! We are hosting a big holiday party this weekend for my husband's work and I thought "wouldn't it be nice to have placards by each dish with pretty lettering showing the name of the dish". Then down the rabbit hole I went (and to the art store for appropriate markers). Wow. never knew how involved this was, although 5 min into your video and I'm already improving (at least enough to get me through this party!). Thank you!!

This is the first video of yours I ever watched. It led me to discover lettering and journaling and now I’m looking back at it two years later with two full bullet journals and I’m so grateful for all the inspiration you’ve given me over the years! ❤️❤️ thanks Amanda!

When you were showing all of the supplies, I love that the watercolor brushes are worn from use 😍 that’s my favorite detail

So I myself do modern calligraphy like this. I learned it from like one video about the pressure on the brush pen and other stuff, then mostly practice.

And for anyone who wants to learn it but doesn't have the materials or the money to. I advice practicing with anything you use for writing such as a stationary pen.

If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. Unless ofcourse I don't know them lol

My own calligraphy is based on a combination of book-hand, and italic. I have practiced it for years and can do it from memory without anything to look at as a guide. Many people find it to be pleasing, and appreciate having me give them gifts made in this style. On the other hand, there are lettering styles I do have to see in order to replicate them. In a book that I was using as a teaching aid, it was recommended that I practice a style like this. I've been doing calligraphy for over 30 years, and quite enjoy it. Just in the last year, I started making my own ink. When I retire from my regular job, I would like to do this to earn extra money to supplement my retirement income. My latest batch of ink is still in the works, and was made my boiling pecans to get a brown pigment. I'm adding other ingredients to darken the color. It took me 3 days to boil the pecans, and then condense down the resulting color. I still have about 3 weeks to go to mature the ink to usability, unless you want brown ink. For additional styles I like, for which I need a guide are, Celtic, and Gothic Black letter. I wish you well in your own endeavors.
