There's something my in-laws do which is slightly annoying. They insist that join in with party games. I understand it comes from a good place, they want me to feel included. But quite often I'm unfamiliar with the game, or it requires a little more physical performance than I'm comfortable with. I'd rather watch them play first, get a feel for it, before throwing myself in. And a confirmation that it's quite OK for me to duck out and go bother the cats for 20 minutes would be appreciated.

I wish everyone a calm Christmas. I know it’s a lovely time of year for many, for myself, it’s a stressful time of year, as family and friends expect a high level of emotional joy for days on end. Personally, that puts a drastic toll on my masking abilities, which in the worst case, leads me running off in to the woods for several hours to decompress right before a planned family event 😔 Hopefully you can’t relate to my situation, but if you can, try to take comfort in knowing that you are not alone ❤

Merry Christmas Quinn! Loved this and can also relate to the bit about being mistaken for frowning. All it would take would be for people to notice what I’m doing when I appear to be “frowning” - they would surely realise I am doing something which requires my focus or attention to detail, so I am actually concentrating! Doing this for me, making this accommodation, would go a long way towards helping me feel that people are making the effort for me and no longer making lazy and unkind assumptions!

Also love the outtakes at the end!

Thanks for the video. Cannot comprehend the amount of work required in order to craft them so carefully. This one provided a couple of thought connections that will take me some time to embody.

Hi Quinn, a massive thank you for all your videos and ideas.. I discovered the channel a few months ago. I have a relatively similar background and situation. Brit, male early 50's. Though not diagnosed but my son is which like many took me down the path of understanding.

Have a nice and quiet Christmas....

To all our community, I hope you have the Christmas you both need and desire, with everything you want and nothing you don't, from a warm and wet Aotearoa.

Thanks for discussing this topic Quinn. And I just wanted to say that I always have Loop earplugs with me and also my noise cancel headphones. sometimes I don't need either of them. Sometimes I need the Loops and sometimes I need the noise cancel headphones on top of the Loops so that way I can live at my own volume. That helps me navigate different situations in life. I think you might want to consider Loops earplugs sponsoring some of your videos. Perhaps they might do that.
Because their products are great for neurodivergent folks. Also I really enjoy outtakes so thanks for showing some of yours.

Loved this, really interesting points about accessibility. You're right, accommodations are accessibility. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2024🎄

ive always find it very strange when books about adhd and or autism are practically impossible to read for someone who struggles with exactly those things. why write a book for people who have a hard time focusing on reading something and then decide to make it as hard as possible?? on the other hand there are also lovely books that put things in small blocks, with diagrams and clear outlines to follow and i will automatically want to read a book like that much more.

I take ear plugs with me for when things get too noisy. It's an accommodation that I can make for myself that impacts no one else and allows me to remain present to watch the fun. If there is any tension, I have to leave, but, generally, there isn't any. Just people having fun.

Thank you for your thoughtfullness in your videos. Personally I choose your videos, because I like the way you do things, and ofcourse your points and views on topics.
I love this topic, and since i come from a family of different needs, it is very relevant to me. Bad eyesight/blindness, autism, adhd, audhd, and even conflicting autistic needs, make family gatherings a challenge.
I likewise feel, that a bit more understanding, empathy and acceptance is the way forward.

My daughter insisted that everyone would wear the exact same Xmas shirts. Looked like a team of American car salesmen to me, I was horrified. Also, it’s quite hot in Australia at Xmas and to me putting it over my other clothes was too much. I also just felt really uncomfortable about her insisting, it just made me look like I was spoiling everyone’s fun. All I could think of was what an environmentally unfriendly thing to do and just wasting money that could have been donated to people who needed it. Xmas craziness.

Being a vaper at christmas is useful, I can walk out any time I want. Its probably not that healthy though.
