Sansa is by far one of the best characters in the entire franchise. She is so strong and beautiful. She had it so bad. Poor child had it worst. Deserved the crown!!

at first I didn't like Sansa, thought she was a bit spoiled, but man, she's had it so rough.

Beautiful rendition.
I know a lot of people aren't crazy about her since she's not Batman like Arya, but I can relate to Sansa. I was a starry-eyed kid myself until the world twisted up my dreams. I grew up lucky but found out things aren't always as sweet as they promise. It's a hard lesson and one you never forget, so I can sympathize with her character. It makes me love reading her chapters.

Finally something for Sansa! Everyone gives her so much undeserved crap and this is just beautiful and it made my day.

Still one of my favorite chapters in any book. On the surface it might come off weepy and girly, but the way it gets across the concept of imminent doom is spectacular. Lordlings and paupers thinking nothing of sitting next to one another is less a lesson about everyone being the same in life, and more a conceit that everyone is the same when faced with death. And the idea that a church (sept) can be blazingly bright and even HOT just from candles, each one lit for someone who could be dead soon the chapter could be even better than the actual battle.

Lyrics ❤️

Gentle mother
Font of mercy
Save our sons from war
We pray

Stay the swords
And stay the arrows
Let them know a better day

Gentle mother
Strength of women
Help our daughters
Through this fray

Soothe the wrath
And tame the fury
Teach us all a kinder way

Oh my... I cried when I read the passage where she sings this. For me that small moment is the most beautiful in all the books. The saddest, most hopeless, but yet the most perfect moment, an eye in the storm that was raging around her and Sandor. You, Karliene, did it justice, it sounds just like I imagined it. Thank you! :)

This song tells exactly why I love Sansa! :)

This poor girl has had it harder than (just about) any other main character in this series, particularly in the TV show. You do a beautiful job of bringing her character to life through your lovely signing :)

I can just picture Sansa standing atop the walls at King's Landing, the Battle of the Blackwater raging below, and then she starts singing and slowly the battle dies down so all the men can hear the beautiful song

This is a beautiful song. It couldn't describe Sansa more. Gentle but incredible strong.

Still makes me tear up even 2 years later

I know this was sung during the War of the Five Kings, but I can't help but sing along with Syria in mind.

Wow. Deeply, deeply heart-rending. In a sense, I feel like this is almost the singular most apparent "moment of grace" for Westeros. In the midst of all the horror and corruption and killing, there is a prayer for the heart going to the divine to "teach us all a kinder way."

The most messed up thing about Game of Thrones is how similar this brutal, Machiavellian, caste-based society, still is to reality in 2014. It's always been a huge scam for rival rich people to get the poor to fight each other. Sansa's character  is forced to learn the truth even though it's always "boring or horrible."

Is this the prayer she sang to the Hound?

From naive teenager, to broken and abused, to Queen. What a beautiful story.

My daughter is 10 now... I used to sing this to her as a lullaby when she was first born. It would zonk her out so fast...
I'm not her "Biological mother" but she means the world to me. I would do my best to qualm any battle for her. I know the importance of peace from looking into my child's eyes.

(Being a parent is fukkin wild, for the record. I would've glady died being a sheild maiden. But now? I live to protect our future.)
