What happens when the reigning Fittest Man and Woman on Earth do the same workout 1,000 miles away from one another? They pretty much stay neck-and-neck.

"When I'm training by myself, I'm imagining training next to Katrin," Fraser says. "I'm telling myself, 'Katrin wouldn't be putting the bar down right now, Katrin would be taking shorter breaks than you.'"

Watch Mat Fraser and Katrin Davidsdottir complete a workout with push jerks, pistols, GHD sit-ups, wall-ball shots, handstand-walking and rowing, while Davidsdottir is in Cookeville, Tennessee, and Fraser is in San Antonio, Texas.

The total amount of transition time from movement to movement overall for Mat was 1:46. The total amount of transition time for Katrin was 1:08. The total transition distance to travel for the two athletes seems about the same. The distance to the pistols was the same, Katrin needed to travel further to get to the GHD, The wall balls were slightly further for Katrin. Mat needed to travel further to get to the Handstand walk portions (50 feet on the way back) while Katrin didn't need to travel any distance at all (twenty feet on the way back.) It may seem like the distance traveled for Mat was shorter because Katrin ran between movements while Mat walked. So for those of you who say Katrin had to travel further, In reality you can't tell.


If Katrin had used the same weights as Mat then she may not have made it passed the first movement. It looks like Mat was jerking 225 and Katrin was jerking 145. Katrin's listed Clean and Jerk PR is 225. The heavier wall ball would have crushed her and she would have needed to break them up multiple times. This is why the workouts are scaled back for the women. The times of the two would have been very close however if they had done the scaling correctly for the row portion of the workout. Katrin should have done 40 - 45 cals instead of 60.


If you think Katrin is so strong, then why, in the 2018 Crossfit Open was her Clean only 231lb while Mat's was 380lb? In the men's competition this would have placed her 51 500th - 53 521st depending on her tiebreak score.
Dozens of the teenage boys 14-15 would have beaten her score in this workout.

Neck and neck before - Mat opens a 50" lead in the row, Katrin finishes 45" after Mat
Such an elite level

she finished about 45 seconds after Fraser, which is exactly the time difference on the row. All other excercises, they were neck and neck, give or take a second or two.

those one leg squats -- lol -- I could never do that on a good day and now at my age I need a hip replacement -- BUT -- I will give it a shot anyway.
