Residents of one California neighborhood thought they were finally relieved of a hoarding situation, but they say it didn't last. A report says the city of Los Angeles spent $12,000 cleaning up the property in Granada Hills. Neighbors say since then, the bags and debris have been piling up again and creating pest problems. Inside Edition Digital’s Mara Montalbano has more.

This person needs to be on that show called “hoarders” because I would hate to live next to someone like that...

There’s a deeper issue than just the stuff/ trash. Cleaning it up will do nothing unless you find the root cause.

What a shame, stuck looking at that mess, dealing with the odor. You can’t leave and move out, who’d buy your house and have that become their problem?

The mindset of the hoarder is something that needs to be studied... Therapy is needed.... They have deepest issues

As someone who grew up in a severe hoarding environment - You can’t remove the physical stuff and expect someone with obsessive compulsive and organizational issues to simply become well.

The court has to mandate therapy hoarding is a mental issue. Even if you kick them out of the neighborhood you're just creating the same problem for another neighborhood.

They need a clean-up then a therapist. The therapist part is really important.

Hoarding is a mental illness. They should order the homeowner to get counseling as well.

Yeah, that isn’t fair to the neighbors. Besides property value and aesthetics… I wouldn’t want to deal with the rats and bugs either. That’s disgusting. Not to mention the fire hazard.

The city should take control of that if the homeowner does not . It affects the value of the neighborhood. It’s unsanitary. It’s gross . I can’t imagine how the next door neighbor feels seeing that day in day out .

I have a hoarding disorder from trauma. It’s not this bad everything’s clean just cluttered. But I’m so afraid of it getting worse. (Yes I’ve been in the process of seeking help for years and it’s coming)

Sadly you can't just clean up a hoard, it's a psychological disorder. Hoarding is often caused by past trauma or mental health issues, even if you clean it up, without proper therapy the hoard will always come back, it's easy to be disgusted, but one needs to understand that this is beyond the hoarders control and someone just needs to actually help and not just complain.

When someone else’s stuff becomes a health issue for others, IT IS A VIOLATION AND FiNES should be issued. Not paid? arrests should be made.

Give the homeowner three choices. Remove trash, mandatory therapy, or massive fines that lead to foreclosure. Mental illnesses don't exempt people from following laws or allow them to impact the rights of others without consequences.

The people who live there should be ordered to pay the entire $12, 000 back at this point. Absolutely disgusting and such a slap in the face to the city that paid so much to try and help them!!

I’m dumbfounded by how hoarders have so many resources to hoard so easily and quickly

This hoarder is taking the most expensive, elaborate, and complex tactics to KEEP HOARDING. They should be committed, and evaluated extensively!

This story is interesting but, for the life of me, I can't figure out how there is not even one mention of Les Claypool (front man for Primus) doing an interview for the local news on his hoarding neighbors! Mind blown! I've wondered where he's been?

You know, sympathy and understanding only goes so far especially when it's a reoccurring problem that affects the neighbors as well as the neighborhood; more needs to be done weather it be drastic or not.
