Wait a minute, did the cameraman expect that to happen? He was standing there rolling film in the perfect position to get all the action, and he didn't point at the floor once.

Finally something without a "Do not try at home" warning.

Seems like a fun thing i should try on the weekend.

As long as you got your safety harness on you'll be fine

I saw this happen in 2020 at a Nucor mill in Frostproof, FL. Needless to say, those of us who were watching ran for cover.

0:10 for those who don’t know , it shorts out on the 250 Volt DC overhead crane power (hot) rails

The factory trying to sell the result of the misroll anyways to reduce losses:

I worked at large foundry (Olomouc, Czech Republic) where aluminum used to be transported around in huge open containers. Average operating temp was 700 C. It is not as dangerous as it might seem from that number, but trust me - you don`t want to mess with it.

Edited.
Trust me - the temperature was not that big of a deal. Do not compare it with hot water which feels much more violent because of a vapour. Compare it with an open fire when you can hold your hand 50 cm away from the burning wood material (in our case - molten Al). Hope my explanation will help you to get a grip on what it was like.

I have been in a factory like that and seen it for my own eyes.... the heat that comes from a mass of super hot metal was something I never forgot.... if it just touched you, your skin/body would melt into vapour

This is obviously dangerous and terrible, but I can't help but be amazed at how oddly beautiful that thing is. Though I'll be honest and say I'm very confused as to how on Earth does that string even come to be...

I’ve worked in every aspect of the steel making process and although this is an awesome spectacle, it’s even more spectacular when it happens in sheet mill. There are so many mechanical dangers in these places, it is a compliment to the workforce that so few are injured.

Remember, while it looks like a piece of rope, the thing weighs more than a car and is hotter than hell. Do not try to touch or grab it

I saw that a couple of times at Texas Steel Company back in the 70's. Both times were at night and it was a sight to see.

A sheet of red hot steel rolled off the hot mill and jumped the rollers and on the floor with a crash. It had to sit there and cool before workers could take it apart and take it back to the melt shop. Extremely dangerous.
