The Best Two Player/Small Box Board Games of 2024?? | Agent Avenue & Castle Combo Review

Two of the best games of 2024 also happen to be in some of the smallest boxes of the year. Agent Avenue from Nerdlab Games and Castle Combo from Pandasaurus. Why I love both of them and why they should both be of some consideration if you like the same style of games I like.

Agent Avenue is a competitive card game for 2-4 players that combines bluffing, strategic set collection, and a race catch your opponent physically on the circuitous map. It utilizes the h"I split, you choose" mechanic to play one card face-up and one face-down each turn. Your opponent chooses one, influencing both your strategies. Cards feature different agents and tools that impact scoring and game progress on a track, advancing the "catch me" race to uncover the opposing spy.

Castle Combo is a tableau-building game where each turn you add a character to your tableau from available recruitment via two different areas – peasants and nobles creating 9x9 grid at the end to score combos to maximize your end game points.

Castle Combo is a fantastic little banger. Because it’s so easy to table we usually hit two games back to back and can get that done 2 or 3 nights a week.
