Even though that he only could do so much, he still did everything he could to ensure the survivability of his teammates during Omni's attack.
And it really shows considering that it was up until his death to where his teammates were finally meeting their fates.

You're missing one scene actually. When omniman is fighting war woman Red Rush actually blocked his first punch for her, but he moved so fast all you could see was the subtle force of air pressure and a quick red flash, had to watch it in slow mo to see it.
