Small Vacuum Tube Tesla Coil - Description

Sorry if I sound a bit dull in the video. I recorded it while being tired, slightly sick (cold) and after not recording any video where I speak for months, maybe over a year. Hopefully it's still useful.
Small VTTC based on the PL500 / PL504 Tube.

Nice build and very clean construction. That's the jozef bogin schematic right?
And at 80 watts with 15 for the filaments that would be around 65 watts through that tube, with a max plate dissipation of around 25 for the 504 I can see why it would overheat rather quickly😅
Have you gotten it to redplate during your tests? Would be worth a try to adapt this circuit to a 509 or 519. Sweep tubes are a joy to work with, hard to kill those little bastards, I'd say the tube can handle a cherry red anode every once in a while 😂

the regulator seems to be quite complicated. Does it need to be pulsed? If so, how about controlling directly G1 bias or G2 voltage? (Actually, G2 should modulate the output, but I am not familiar with PL500/504).

Pretty amazing! Is the bottom of the secondary grounded (to the soil)? If not, where is it? I dont see it on the schematic.
