Walking in TARTU, Estonia - 4K HDR

Показать описание
Tartu is the second-largest city in Estonia, with a population of around 95,000 (2023) and largely known for the University of Tartu. This university was founded in 1632 by Swedish King Gustavus Adolphus. The university is one of the oldest in Northern Europe and remains popular and prestigious.
On our walk we get a bit outside the city center for traditional Estonian wooden houses. We even get a peek into the botanical Gardens. We see the Ruins of the Tartu cathedral and the Tartu Observatory, Estonia's largest astronomical observatory, located on a hill just near the city center.
At last we stroll back to our starting point along the Emajõgi River. This river flows through Tartu, connecting Lake Peipus to the Baltic Sea. So let's visit Tartu, the main student city of Estonia.
Some fun facts: Tartu is often called the "City of Good Thoughts" due to its reputation as a center of learning and creativity. The University of Tartu’s main building has a lock-up room, or “student jail,” historically used for disciplining unruly students. The university library holds a collection of rare books, including the first Estonian-language Bible from 1739.
The city is also home to Estonia’s oldest cinema "Ekraan" opened in 1913. In 2015, Tartu was the first Estonian city to implement public bike-sharing. Another quirky feature is the Leaning House of Tartu, a former 18th-century residence that tilts due to being built on uneven ground.
