At least three reported tornadoes hit communities in Iowa and Illinois on Tuesday as severe storms made their way through the U.S. South and Midwest, just as many states were trying to recover from this past weekend's storms.

Pleasantville, Iowa saw homes torn apart, though no deaths have been reported so far, as videos captured what some described as a "white worm" as the possible tornado snaked its way to the ground.

"It got close. We could see stuff in the clouds spinning and at that point it felt strange all of a sudden," resident Mary Miller said. "People say it sounds like a train but it was very quiet. We ran downstairs and looked out our basement windows and could see everything flying everywhere."

The weather brought hail, lightning, high winds and heavy rain to many parts of the U.S., with more severe storms expected Wednesday.
