I would like to apologize to Messmer for being so quick to judge his character. I really thought he was a big bad, but turned out he was severely deprived of motherly love. Elden Ring's Shadow of The Erdtree really got me questioning everything and everyone lol.

What do you guys think about the lore surrounding Marika's people, the Shamans, and the Hornsents? I think it's my favorite revelation in the DLC as to why Marika really hates the Omens. Is Marika's retaliation justified? Or too much? Why or why not?

I even helped hornsent by summoning him to beat Messmer with me to make sure that he got his revenge, and he was so excited after that. But then he turns on you because he's still not satisfied 😠 i was so bummed i thought he would join me to fight radahn with Ansbach and Thiollier 😭

This is why i hate the Hornsent not only are they annoying to fight in game but they’re literally the villains of Elden ring
Edit: people are saying how Marika is the true villain and that they’re both bad and I do agree neither side is good doesn’t take away from the fact that the hornsent are horrible I’d also look to point out what they did to midra and his people for exhibit B

I both love and hate the Hornsent. It's clear there were many who didn't know about how the jarring process was done, or where. There were even hornsent criminals and those falsely accused were put into the jars with the Shaman. Evil bastards, creating a cycle of suffering.

Something as well that Messmer had an archive room full of Hornsent artifacts and writings because he wanted to preserve something of the culture he was ordered to wipe out

Its essentially:

1. Marika being a innocent person but becoming a tragic MC of an anime involving devils (hornsent) raiding her village for enjoyment.
2. Now she hates all devils AND demons (omens). Who are neutral and arent the exact same species.
3. Gave Morgott and Mohg the Wolverine and Sabertooth backstory 💀

I truly didnt get it until i went to Bonny Village, the Shaman Village but it wasnt until I went into Belurat Gaol and saw that one ghost saying theyll be good and not to put them in the jars....that i made it a personal mission to destroy them. And those shamans of the two together are why the hornsent need to perish
