Koch Chemie Gsf. THE HUNT FOR THE BEST AUTO SHAMPOO

Searching for the best auto shampoo I came across Koch Chemie Gentle Snow Foam. Koch Chemie Gsf is a a German made top auto shampoo with great reviews and this meant that I had to check it out. The label says Gentle snow foam so I wondered if it would have the ability to clean the car effectively. I tested it with the MTM PF 22.2 foam cannon as well as in a bucket for a normal wash mitt style car wash. The results with the foam cannon were very good with a thin clingy style foam that was very slick to the touch. At 20ml to 1L of water the foam cannon dilution ratio makes the product very affordable and it produced reasonable foam results. To get thicker foam an increased dilution ratio of 150ml to 1L should be used however this greatly increases the cost per wash. Where the gentle snow foam really shines is in the wash bucket. At 50ml to 2.5 gallons of water there was plenty of foam and slickness. I see no need to increase this ratio.

“A lot of the foam is just for show”—Truer words have never been spoken. Unless you’re five years old, you want slickness. Something that will clean and rinse off smoothly. Let the five years old have fun with the bubbles and the foam. I just want to wash my truck as effortlessly as possible. It’s a go for me with gsf.

As far as I’m concerned, you’re the Superman of auto detailing reviews. Liked and subscribed.

Nice review but pay attention to the recommended dilution ratio on the bottle. It stands 20ml of the product into 1L of water for the foam sprayer. It means its for the manual foam sprayer, not foam lance used with a pressure washer. So 20ml of the product per 1L water, its about 1:50. Thats the PIR dilution. That would be completly different for a pressure washer foam lance. You need to add more product, a lot more. For correct dilution and finding out the PIR the foam lance need to be massured.

Awesome review. Keep it up. I’ve been on the fence about getting some but I thought it was pricey for one liter and not sure if it was worth it. Your video is the only one I’ve watched that mentions how little product you need to wash your car. Now I think I’ll order some. Thanks!

GSF is super thick if you add more than the recommended 20 ml in 1 litre. I tend to go with 100 ml; you probably can get by with less and I know that impacts over cost/wash, but I do love a shaving cream type foam.

You can add some Green star to raise the ph and increase the foam if sticking with the light dilution ratio.

Also take some of the left over foam in the cannon and blast the bucket before use.

Great video, as always. I bought Koch Chemie GFX Gentle Snow Foam X-Mas recently. Not used it yet but is scented with Roasted Apple and Cinnamon. Looking forward to trying it later this week 😀

Please read the comment from @Makkis Carspa. You used the wrong dilution in your foam lance. 20 ml is for manual hand sprayers such als a Gloria FM10, Kwazar super foamer or similar. Since most of the foam lances on a higher pressure washer continue dilution (most do 1:10) your pre dilution you need to increase the amount in your bottle by 10x times.

Interesting any reason why you didn’t agitate the foam when applied to the truck ?

Thanks for the vid, i plan on giving this stuff a try this year. Question, have you ever tried Adams Mega Foam? I used it last year and i had a lot of fun with it because it does lay down the super thick 2" inches of foam, but i cant really speak for its actual cleaning ability.

I have the same Karcher… did you paint the front of it? I’ve only ever seen them in the green color. Also, I really like your pressure washer and hose set up, I’m going to try to do something pretty similar in my garage.

Loved the intro today! I've never tried this brand but I'm starting hear some good stuff. That dilution ratio in the foam cannon is amazing considering I'm using about a 100ml of all of my other snowfoams in a 1 litre for cannon

Which car schampoo would you prefer for ceramic coated surface and waxes surfaces? Would you recommend one schampoo for me?

Definitely with you regarding foam thickness, if the foam isn’t in contact with the paint it can’t be doing anything

Performance wise, this is one of the best soaps ever, if not the best. I calculated that you’d be using about 32¢ for a 1 liter mixture of which is 20ml concentrate. That will surely be enough to spray over a small economy sedan twice over. You get amazing cleaning properties and a slick film, which might even aid in the prevention of evaporation and water spotting when working in direct sunlight. Adams Mega Foam can be bought for cheaper, but you’d be using about three times as much product in a single 1 liter lance bottle. Thats comes to a little more than 80¢ per wash.

5:19 if you look at the paintwork, it's actually not touched the dirt on the truck at all! Not even shifted the dust.

I think the amount used for the foam cannon wasn't enough. With some of it sticking inside the measure cup as well as the water coming through the cannon I think diluted it a little to much. I've seen some videos of it with pretty thick foam.
