Dave your message is beautifully simple: “spend less than you make, save and invest the difference”. The problem is people don’t like simple, they want “sophisticated” because they don’t want to face the fact that they have to make lifestyle changes.

Old Dave has been right for years. My Grandfather retired at 58 debt free and money in the bank. He did exactly what he wanted to do until he died at 82. My Dad retired at 45 and did what he enjoyed.
I retired at 45 a little over 30 years ago. I've made 50 trips to Europe in that time. I've enjoyed summers at our Czech villa and winters at our Tucson home and the rest of the time in Tennessee where Dave lives. We all did this by not owing for cars or homes and by investing in real estate.
It is hard at first, but later it becomes easier. When my wife and I turned 26, we payed cash for our second home. After that, we never looked back.
