My brother had a late 80s Trans Am and the spare was stored flat "To save space" It had a little tank about the size of a portable propane tank to inflate it when needed.

I just saw this video, but this morning I was changing the engine and transmission oil, as well as rear brakes on my daily, and I decided to check the spare. It's a 2020 Civic, bought it brand new in January 2020. The spare has never been used, and it was down to 24psi, so I shot it to 60 just in case. Yeah, I should do that more often.

Good morning, Stacy. Yes, sir. That happened to me in 2017 with my car. Flat tire, went to pulll the spare out. Flat! Then on. I now have an 18v ryobi air pump that i keep in my trunk and a full set of tools and 20v impact gun. It only took once for that to happen to me.

Always keep a tire inflator in your car. If your spare tire pressure is low, you'll be able to pump it up enough to get you to a gas station where you can top it off.

Thats when a portable air tank is your friend. Also check the damn spare.

What’s even more frustrating is trying to check then spare tire pressure on a F-150 in the factory mounting position. They mount them valve stem up, so unless you re-hang it “wrong”, it’s virtually impossible to check.

My 88 formula had a store away spare tire which was an empty tire and a small can of compressed air

It’s a great idea but look up where the spare tire on the 2000’s model of a Dodge grand caravan with sto&go seats.

it shouldn't leak, simply using bead sealer would prevent this issue and or good mating surfaces

Oh how it's insult to injury, when I see someone put on a spare. That is as flat as the tire they took off. It's also worth saying loosen the lug nuts, before lifting the car with the jack... I once saw a guy try to hold the spoke of his wheel and turn the lug wrench at the same time. It was the most painful thing to watch. It's like mechanic apprentice smacking a tire to get a wheel off, but doesn't know a lug but is holding the wheel.
