I remember when I first bought this album (CD) way back in 1999, the first song I listened to, as a “Litmus” test to see if the remixing was well done, was “Eleanor Rigby”. As soon as I heard this song with Paul’s voice properly centered and the awesome-sounding strings, I knew that an excellent job had been done. Revolver needs a good remix, especially Taxman.

Everyone always scorches this album, but I have always loved it. It's All Too Much is worth the price of admission alone.

My wife (at the time) was in Japan when this was released and brought me back a Japanese CD of this album, and for a very long time it was the best sounding CD I owned. Not just by The Beatles, but by anyone. The vinyl sounds great as well. Take care...

Thanks for doing a video on this album. This was a surprise in 1999. I bought the CD without realizing it was remixed and I remember listening to it on headphones and being blown away. Especially for songs like Sgt. Pepper and Nowhere Man. We were lucky to even get this songtrack. I don’t think this was planned. Originally an executive for United Artists named Bruce Markoe showed a copy of the Yellow Submarine laserdisc to his daughter and saw how bad the quality and pitched an idea to his boss to have the film cleaned and remixed for 5.1 for the DVD. Peter Cobbin was tasked once they got sign off from Apple. He went back to multi tracks and created surround sound mixes and it was decided to make fresh stereo mixes for this album. I honestly didn’t think any other albums would be remixed and was so happy when they started doing with 1 and Sgt. Pepper and the White Album and Abbey Road. I agree that Rubber Soul and Revolver need remixes badly. Thanks for posting!

I was so moved the first time I listened to this Song track on CD. You got me pursuing it on vinyl. Thank You for educating us on how this came to be.

I'm so glad you did this video Brian. Over the last month I've been playing a lot of it's all too much. There's a guy on YouTube that did a stereo mix of the 8-minute 10-second version of it's all too much and did a great job. I haven't played the 1999 version of the yellow submarine soundtrack in probably 20 years and don't even recall if I knew it was remixed or not. Thanks to your video I dug it up and played it last night and was completely blown away. I was not happy with some of the songs from pepper The White album and Abbey Road that Giles did. But the gentleman that did the remixing of yellow submarine did a excellent job. I played the 1999 version last night and when it's all too much came on I was blown away with the drums especially. The snare drum and the kick drum you could hear so clearly. And I love it that it was centered.if it hadn't been for you Brian the CD would still been in a box somewhere and I would have never known. Thanks for doing this video. Regards Tripper

Agree with your comments! I bought this on cd pretty close to its original release date and was super-impressed by how much the music popped. I especially loved ‘It’s all Too Much’ which really came alive imo. Liked the other remastering too! This album really showed me the possibilities of remastering!

All Together Now and It's All Too Much were from the Magical Mystery Tour sessions. Hey Bulldog was from the Lady Madonna sessions.

That record is a great sounding and looking record. I primarily bought it for the looks of it, but the remixes opened up a whole new way of listening to the Beatles

I must admit when I want to listen to Yellow Submarine it’s the Songtrack LP I go to, not the original. I was interested to see your copy has a glossy sleeve. Mine doesn’t but was also manufactured in the EU. The label is the same but the vinyl is a bright yellow. Also interesting to note I still have the price tag on the plastic sleeve - $39.95. Vinyl wasn’t cheap even back then.

Brian, just discovered your vids while looking for info on this remixed LP vs the orig. LP. Very well done. I've subscribed to your channel now.
Am pretty sure your vid on the subject is the most thorough, best delivered on YouTube. Kudos. 👍

The Songtrack is the best way to listen to many of the tracks included on it. I agree. I listen to it pretty often but on CD. Definitely a must-have for anyone who wants to listen to Beatles music.

I think the Beatles should have released the planned 5 track EP (Across the Universe was planned for inclusion with the 4 new songs) and if EMI wanted to, release the George Martin score separately (I personally enjoy the score).

Also all the remixes of tracks from the Yellow Submarine Songtrack are integrated in my Beatles playlists because they're that good!

I love the yellow submarine song track I listen to it both on the CD and vinyl when I first heard it I was absolutely blown away all of this song sound very good together. For me I love the Giles Martin remixes and the Peter common remixes I think they’re both great. And if you notice in the yellow submarine song a life of these is not there in the stereo mix but it has been restored in the yellow submarine soundtrack version and I love the fact that Peter carbon was able to fix the Eleanor line and the whole album is just great.

Since this video was made Giles Martin has remixed other songs that are on this album. His version of "nowhere man" completely drops all the reverb on the vocals whereas the Cobbin version has the wonderful original reverb.

Also, "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" is slightly slower than the Peter Cobbin's mix.

I am still debating with myself whether I want a bother spending money on the CD version of this wonderful mix.
