Montessori Education Week - Sound Cylinders

This material develops the sense of hearing, exposing the child to different auditory experiences and, thereby, developing listening skills. It further enhances the child’s ability to distinguish between different volumes and pitches and also develops related vocabulary. Sound cylinders are an assortment of tubes, each of which produces a different sound stored in two boxes. One box has a bule lid, and the other has a red lid. The child shakes and listens to the cylinders in one box then finds the corresponding cylinder in the other box, which produces the matching sound.
