This is a simulation of two galaxies, both having a center mass 10mil times mass of one of the individual, rotating stars. They are initially separated on the X-axis by a distance of 1250ly, the first traveling at ~30km/s in the Y-direction. Galactic radius is each initially 5000ly.
At the end of the simulation (which spans 200 million years), each galaxy has captured approximately 58% of the colliding galaxy's mass, and lost ~30% of its own mass into space.
