An external mood controller is something anyone who's taken drugs must have thought of. The ability to dial separate emotions up or down in a controlled way is what a lot of people dream of. Just dampening the amygdala would be amazing given the mismatch between our sense of fear and the reality of life in the modern world. Meanwhile the sanctimonious types will immediately freak out at the mere idea.
