“A chieftain, a warrior, a father, a friend”

This is possibly the most genuinely romantic song in any movie ever

1:39 the fact that gobber can sing this this song too means that this isn't just a song they shared between themselves but one they shared with their families and friends and that makes it so much sweeter

When stoick says to valka "you are as beautiful as the day I lost you" I remember legitimately crying. That's line is so pure and honestly shows to me how much he truly loved valka. That's true love, right there

“I would sing you poetry”
“Oh would you?”

You can practically hear the deadpan look from Stoick to Gobber when he interrupts him.

THE REASON THAT STOICK WAS SO FRANTIC AND SCARED WHEN TRYING TO SAVE HICCUP FROM THE MONSTROUS NIGHTMARE IN THE FIRST FILM IS BECAUSE THE LAST TIME SOMEONE HE LOVED REFUSED TO KILL A DRAGON, HE LOST THEM

Something I will never get over in the film is the look of joy and happiness on hiccups face as he sees this, the overwhelming joy he must feel after 20 years and the first thing they do is effectively sing their vows to each other confirming their feelings never left

I love how the actors aren't doing the best job of singing, but you can feel the heartfelt emotions behind their singing, and that somehow makes it even more beautiful than if they were.

The soft laughter in between the singing is adorable and makes the moment so much more real.

It is super poetic that Stoic, being such a tough and stoic man, would love and marry someone like Valka, a gentle and empathetic woman. These two are one of my favorite fictional couples in all of media.

People watching the movie: " Oh my gosh! He has a family again! That is so sweet!DreamWorks: PYSCH! We gotcha! Did you really think someone could have TWO parents!

"May the Valkyries welcome you and lead you through Odin's great battlefield may they sing your name with love and fury so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla and know that you've taken your rightful place at the table of Kings... for a great Man has fallen a warrior, a chieftain, a father.. a friend"
Edit: Stoick's ship and dancing for the dreaming are the same song

Let’s face it, there is no “I’m not crying you’re crying” we’re all sobbing right now

Me: Ok. Ok. It’s been five years or so since the movie came out. You can do it. Everything’s fine. It’s just a song.
*Stoic starts whistling*
Me: ABORT MISSION! ABORT MISSION!

I'm not a good judge on singing, by Stoick's genuine singing at the start, how nervous and frail his voice sounds just projects perfectly how desperate he is to have her back

the fact that you can hear Stoick's voice breaking when he cuts off his "and love me for eternity" because he thinks Valka has forgotten hurts my soul. and then she picks up his line and keeps going and it gets all happy and it's just beautiful

This is probably the most REAL and genuine moment in the entire franchise so far. It feels so genuine, and not a lot of animated films have managed to do this(only a few good ones of course).
