Why You Need A Cellular Signal Booster for your RV

We depend on the Internet to do our jobs while we are living in our RV and we rely on a cellular signal booster to make sure we have the optimum connectivity.
Wilson sent the new unit to me realizing we travel to lots of far-flung and remote areas and they wanted us to provide some real world testing of the system. That we just did on an extended trip west that had us boondocking in some very isolated wilderness areas.
The cell booster extends cellular signal range to ensure you get better voice and data with fewer dropped calls, improved voice quality, faster uploads and downloads. Wilson claims that the weBoost's Drive 4G-M boosts cell signals up to 32x to enhance 4G LTE and 3G signals for everyone in the vehicle .
Up to four devices can connect to it at any one time and we use it with our laptops, smartphones and tablets. It also works with my Verizon Jetpack Mobile Hotspot and gives me my own private WiFi network even when outside the RV, sitting at the picnic table or in our camping chairs.
At a recent Roadtreking gathering at Glacier National park, when people all around us had no signal, we were connected to 4G and got through perfectly. I even let a couple of fellow campers tap into my network so they could use the net a few times.
This booster is compatible with all US and Canadian wireless networks such as Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Straight Talk and more. Each booster comes with an inside antenna, magnetic outside antenna, and power supply.
I decided not to use the tiny little magnetic mount antenna that Wilson includes in the box. Instead I bought a longer and sturdier magnetic mount that the company sells for $25 on Amazon -
In this video, I show how I installed the system. But most importantly, I document the dramatic improvement in cellular signal strength that it provides. I tested this in numerous locations from Michigan to Montana and while results varied, the booster always improved download and upload speeds quite a bit.
Jennifer and I have been delighted with the results.

Mike, you have a professional sounding speaking voice. It makes it much easier to listen to what you have to say.

I thought I knew how iot worked until you mentioned your verizon wifi. Does it output cell signal or wifi? Because if its wifi it would need it's own cellular card/account. which is bad.

Hi Mike I use one very simular to what you have. The antenna makes the difference on all RF connections. So always get the best antenna for the job. Ps there are directional antennas you can use if you can see but are too far from the cell tower.

A good perk of making a popular RV channel! Thanks for the review and example installation.

Thanks Mike. As always very useful and detailed information. Wow! That speed increase is enough to convince my better half to click on the buy button. Owen and Lynn, Travel and Fishing Adventures.

Get info and we've wanted to get one. But I wonder if this would help at all in boosting a signal if there were no bars on your phone to get even one bar on your phone? Just to be able to make an emergency call.

I wonder if Roadtrek would do a factory Install on the cellular signal booster while building my custom made travel RV Van ?

Hmm..., my Roadtrek (also on a Mercedes Sprinter) came from the factory with an antenna very much like that one already mounted just about where you put yours (I have to unscrew it to put my RV cover on) I don't know what, if anything, it does now, but I wonder if I could somehow hook a booster up to it & not have to thread wires all through the inside & outside of my RV.

might have missed it, did you compare the antenna that came with the unit, and the antenna you bought? Would like to know if there was a difference.
Thank You So Much For The Video. Great Info., .

I'd like to know how the antenna that came in the box did. Did you do a comparison?

Hi Mike, the coax used on these mag mount antennas will not give you the best performance. If you find it is lacking you can get a NMO mount antenna with much better coax that can be run a shorter distance to your amp. Keep that in your back pocket and don't expect the marketing groups to even know you can get them. You have to talk to the engineers to know about these antennas.

What is the best kind and where do we purchase it? Thank you!

Good stuff!! Question for you: Do you need to buy a cell booster specific to your carrier (i.e. Verizon) or are the versatile to work across all 4G carrier bands?
