A look at the live action segment 'Danger Island' from 'The Banana Splits Show'.

Unlike the other segments which were cartoons such as 'The Arabian Knights' and 'the three Musketeers', 'Danger Island' had a cast of human characters. It was fast-paced and featured a group of adventurers who team up with a couple of castaways. One of these called Chongo is a mute who communicates via gestures and bird noises. The catchphrase 'Uh Oh Chongo!' was picked up by countless school children and repeated in school playgrounds around many parts of the world.
Directed by Richard Donner who went on to produce such classic films as 'Superman' and 'Lethal Weapon' it featured Jan-Michael Vincent in his first acting role.
