So much better than a cursed necklace or house or doll. Something about a poem- a thing you can't put in a cage, or run away from- is pretty chilling. You have so little defense against speech and sounds.

this story is totally a classic. something about the beginning of the story scares me more than anything else.

i have heard of this poem, and youtubers speak of it, some even "read" or paraphrase some of it. i always look way the mintue that picture accoctated with the poem is pulled up.
However, the "message" is timeless and highly phiosophical. "how far can your pride take you, and is worth the price you and other pay?"

Well, I had read the whole poem out loud in both English and Japanese like 2 years ago. Nothing happened to me, though I had terrible vivid nightmares (but, I have them ever since childhood alongside with lucid dreams so can't really blame the poem). Otherwise, I am very well and nothing bad happened 🤷‍♀️

And she is going to read it again at another public event? Oh no, she must be stopped. The main character went from normal to menace for seemingly no reason at all.

I heard about another legend about a story called Gozu that drives anyone who reads it or listens to it insane. So how many cursed poems and stories are there in Japan?

I wonder if they’ll ever bring back ghost guide, the older videos were so much scarier with the simple art style lol (like seriously they used to keep me up at night)

I read the poem aloud a few years ago on accident (I forgot all about the curse). Thankfully, nothing bad happened 😁

I love this take. The curse decided to take her as a minion.

Took the headphones out once you started reading the poem. I love a scare, but I'm not looking to get cursed to have one.
