Full PHP 8 Tutorial - Learn PHP The Right Way

If you want to learn PHP the right way, then you are in the right place. In this course, you will learn PHP from beginners level all the way to advanced. The "right way" is subjective of course, but my goal is to teach PHP the way I would want to learn myself where important topics like security, caching, performance, configuration, routing, dependency management, dependency injection & testing are not omitted even when the course is for beginners. This course will not be only for beginners even though it will be beginner-friendly in the beginning. The course will be split into three sections + a project section. Each video will have a lot of details about the topic so even if you already know that topic I recommend watching it since you might learn something new.

This is the first video & it is an introduction to the course. I talk about what PHP is, why you should use it, how it works, and the overview of the course's main topics.

While the course has been completed for a while and no longer receives updates, it covers up to PHP version 8.2 and focuses on fundamental topics that remain applicable to newer versions of PHP as well.

If you're working with a newer version of PHP, you can simply check out the 'what's new in PHP version X' videos or read the updates to learn about new features or changes. The core concepts and skills taught here will continue to serve you well, no matter what version you're using.

Hey everyone. I started working on this course a year ago & we are over 70+ videos in and still going. There are simply a lot of topics I want to cover which I think are important to know which is why there are a lot of videos. One disclaimer, this is not a "learn PHP in few hours course". I'm going to keep this series up to date as much as I can to stay relevant in the coming years. as of today it is good for 2021-2023 & even 2024. I don't often comment videos - or press thumbs up/down for that matter. But you put so incredible much work into this incredibly complete tutorial. "Knowing" older php versions from before, I could listen to the first 30 chapters with 1.5x speed, but that changed fast. You go like a bulldozer over all the gaps and disclose areas that require more attention from my side. And it doesn't stop with php's technical aspects, but includes all from server config, dockers, composer, mysql, MVC, ... well, you know I'm "just" in chapter 67 right now. Thanks a lot, and keep up the very good work.

Just reviewed all of the Course 1 videos in prep for a job interview (coming from Rust/Python background) and thought this was the best tutorial on introducing PHP8! The core concepts are explained well and explicitly, and for people with prior experience there are time-marks on most of the videos so you can skip sections that you are familiar with. For people without prior programming experience, the concepts (and their significance) are explained well at each section.

Great job Gio! I'd suggest anyone looking for a strong introduction to PHP to review this course.
