Lian Li almost made the perfect 120mm fan... the Unifan P28

All right, a performance Unifan... with some bells and whistles. It's an odd size but it's workable. Let's take a look.

After going back to re-check the video I discovered a typo. The graph at 6:00 has the titles for the T30 and the NF-A12x25 transposed. The verbalization of the results is accurate: the T30 yielded 36.2 and the NF-A12x25 was at 38.3. Apologies for the discrepancy.

Always love your sound samples. Motor noise, frame resonances, bearings, blade flutters, many reviews skip right over these and they're SO important if you just want a quiet PC (and have ADD/ADHD/OCD where constant whines drive you NUTS ;-) )

How can a dry topic as a 120mm fan be morphed into a visual and audio delight?
Ask machines and more, he's got a recipe apparently!

Awesome video like always!

The noise is probably due the pull configuration, my guess is that the P28 blades pass closer to the radiator than the other fans. Push would probably be quieter.

The improvement of this channel compared to several years is impressive, you will go far for sure!

So in conclusion, a12x25 is still the best at a good noise normalized but what about a case fan scenario instead of radiator scenario ? 😊

Imo the a12x25 are not the best anymore in terms of performance on a radiator scenario but...the noise of p28 are clearly unusable so the thing that they can go above 2000rpm is pretty useless 😅

I still prefer SL-INF for RGB fans and for case fans without RGB i still prefer the S12A and the a12x25 from Noctua.

Any plans to review the new Dan C4-SFX case? I'd love to see a comparison between that and the NR200. Love your content!

I see Lian Li gives a lot of info on the P28 details, where the state cfm, noise and statir pressure at the 3 modes the fan performs, that way you have a better idea... Correct me if Im wrong, but others only tell you the rpm and cfm at each mode, not static pressure... They are meant for.use on fins array (to push through), static pressure info is most important info for each mode 😊

The tip clearance is crazy, and it can go up to 2600 RPM? I have concerns on its longevity but Lian Li would know better I guess.
The rotor shape and clearance looks extremely promising, it's unfortunate that it suffers from weird noise issues at lower noise levels. LCP and the extremely tight clearance would suggest very low vibration of the fan blades so I can't really tell where the noise issue is coming from.

Hi! Did you end up testing this in a push configuration? I suspect the noise issues might be related to pull configuration.

There's a 180 Hz tone that appears in P28 sound samples at 860 and 1150 RPM, but not the A12x25. Rotational noise from the fan would vary with RPM, but 180 Hz is 3x 60 Hz. I would suggest investigating where that's coming from, and making sure it is actually the fan. If it is, maybe try to figure out how the fan is creating an RPM-independent tonal sound.

Your videos are so great. I just think the color grading should be tweaked away from the odd desaturation and soft focus.

what you say doesn't match the graph at 6:03

also, the arctic P12 is at 27mm, is it usable in the case you showed in the vid?

Love the sound review
Wonder if it fits perfectly on silver soul 135 and performs similar to T30?

I just bought this on Amazon, it's not going to come in for about 10 days but I was wondering if you had any experience with these EKWB EK-Quantum Inertia D5 PWM Pump, Digital RGB, Acetal. Previously I bought two of those $20 pumps the ones that are black with the clear Square top. Hooked it into my system and got nothing . I order the second one didn't work either, I took the first one apart and plugged it into the power and unless I physically started the blade turning it wouldn't turn on its own, but once I physically started it then it would start working. it's my first water-cooled build and this is driving me insane I've alreay refilled and drained my twice and still haven't even got to turn the computer on yet

P28 Is it best to use a push or pull hook on the radiator?

Hi, I have a question about this fan that is it available to be as CPU fan for Thermalright FC140? Thank you very much

The noise is a bummer since on paper these things perform and look great... But i guess i can feel less guilty about liking my lian li RGB fans at least haha
