Ken really isnt an echo fighter. They just wanted to give him the same number as ryu. On the flip side, they did everything in their power to make daisy a palette swap of peach and you cant convince me otherwise. They literally patched out her differences.

Love that their general fighting style mimics how they are in various fighting games. Slower stronger solid Ryu, faster combo-focused flashy Ken.

Embarrassed to admit I didn’t know Ken’s special kicks had a special input to do them, I had just assumed I was holding the A button for the wrong amount of time. Might have to give the character another look then.

Ryu’s Tatsu/Tornado Kick goes through projectiles. Ken’s doesn’t LOL

I only checked against Ken’s Hadouken, but I THINK it should work against others. Anyone know if it actually works against other projectiles? 👀

Another good thing to note: ryu's hurricane kick launches and can kill confirm. Ken's hurricane kick doesn't launch. Imo Ryu has a better one because you can kill or air kill without being in complete disadvantage by doing a dragon punch. But Ken's dragon punch when ignited with flame for sure kills better.

They should've added Chun Li as another street fighter rep in smash. She's the next most iconic character and would've been a much more unique fighter than having both Ryu and Ken

I'm a Ryu specialist, and I can confirm there's a lot more to them but this is a pretty nice lil vid to teach some differences. Honestly, after all the patches, Ryu is a better character, but I like how it's much closer than it used to. It used to definitively be that Ryu was worse by a significant margin
