In this Blender 2.82 video tutorial I show how to create a simple base mesh and turn it into a high poly hardsurface mesh.

I also use boolean difference operations directly in sculpt mode, which is possible now with my free Fast Carve addon:

For opening holes this is a good trick but for the rest of the geometry I would stick to box modelling; as the REtopo process which you will want to eventually show, will also take time to convert the object. Nevertheless it is a good video keep it up

It's very frustrating to watch you place the circle by eye. Is there really no easy way to center those holes properly?

so I suppose your fast carve will be redundant within the sculpt mode with the future cut tools but what about Object and edit mode ? I wish you push your add-on to be like native code to replace the slow default Boolean. Not talking about a default add-on but the very built into blender. Have you ever considered that ?

Yeah, retopo would be great. While I know how to, it's always nice to see everyone's approach to retopo a given object (since they're all different). How many faces would you try to get that particular object down to on low-poly version? I know it's dependent on several factors - like distance from camera, amount of other objects, etc, but just looking for general guidance on poly count targets for low poly.

Great as always. May I ask you to make a video about snapping the origin directly in edit mode? This is something that IMHO everybody should know. I did one last week, but only have a small audience. You could reach thousands.

Why should someone work like this? its imprecisely, hard to edit it afterwards and slow.

Pretty sweet! Can you use the mirror modifier while doing fast carve operations for just one side of the mesh?
