These murder hornets are brutal. I read about them a few years ago. Some beekeepers in Japan imported European bees to increase honey production and only a dozen murder hornets overwhelmed the hive of thousands of bees, ripping their heads off in an epic hours long battle. A few Japanese also die every year from these attacks. The murder hornets when triggered are known to spray a kind of pheromone that attracts others from several miles away and they all just swarm on the victim and sting them to death. They’re that merciless.

I wouldn't wish my worst enemy to be stung by these.

Bees: I never thought I would die fighting side by side with a yellow jacket
Yellow jacket: what about fighting side by side with a friend?
Bees: aye, i could do that

I hate that those were found so close to where I live. The first one was found near my daughters principals house.

1:06 The short zoomed out clip of them entering the nest, I swear I thought they were birds attacking something...good god.

They said it was just an isolated incident last year with no chance of establishing. Someone did this on purpose.

I killed a nest of these in Southeastern Ohio in 1985. I had pictures and even specimens. In my case they had nested in a dead tree trunk behind my garage. They were around 2 1/2 inches long and extremely aggressive. I killed them by luring them into my brightly lite garage late in the evening. I had placed a large bug zapper inside with all the grates cut away. When they were all inside (About 70 individuals) I closed the garage door, plugged in the zapper and turned off the light. OMG! I thought it was going to burn the building down. Never seen fireworks like that before or after. I did it 2 nights in a row and that took care of them

I swear I saw one of those the other day here in MO. It was HUGE. A good 3-4" long. Same coloration, black abdomen. There are a few species of wasp here that may look similar (cicada killers for example), but I have never seen anything like it in the 30+ yrs I've lived here.

15 years from now (current year 2021), the cicadas will come again, and the murder hornets will blend in :x Quote me here in 15 years.

My hat's off to the people finding and destroying these hornets. They are simply too dangerous to keep around. They can't be allowed to be here.
