You could say the first day of the Swimming with Humpback Whales Expedition got off to a good start! Although in the morning mother nature threw some challenges at us, with choppy waters, increasing winds, and the whale sightings weren't as expected, we didn't lose hope. True to our adventurous spirit, we ventured out again in the afternoon... And we are glad we did! We had a beautifully close encounter with this mother humpback guiding her newborn calf, teaching lessons that will remain with the calf for life. Did you know that once humpback whale calves are weaned, they venture on their own into the vastness of the ocean and don't stay with their families?
