I had a chance to meet Steve in the Melbourne store a few weeks ago and I was impressed by his (and his team's) knowledge and service. I tried the said OCBD and the quality was like nothing I've felt before. Just wanna pop in here to give another pov compared to my current favourite OCBD by Kamakura.

In terms of Informale's shirt sizing, the size 38 fits on me similar to the one you're wearing on the chest area. Having said that, I also love the relaxed vibe size 39 is on my body but sadly the sleeve length is slightly too long for my arms. For the price I needed a bit longer to think so I didn't end up buying it but maybe one day :))

In terms of Kamakura shirt, I have their 'American Sea Island Cotton' OCBD in the size 39-83 Tokyo Slim, which fits me similar to Informale's size 38 with maybe a tad bit shorter sleeves. I'd say the fabric feels equally as amazing and substantial on my skin compared to Informale's but the hand feel on the Kamakura's is slightly less dry when new (with wash I expect them to probably feel similar). The collar length is 8.5cm, which is perceivably shorter than Informale's but still retains a great collar roll. In fact, when I tried the Informale's I felt like if I were to buy it, I'd have to rewire my brain to be familiar with such a long collar. For now I'm satisfied with the 8.5cm I have but who knows in the future I might eventually crave a longer collar length. The buttons on Kamakura's are definitely not as glossy and nice compared to the ones on Informale's. Also obviously has no hand stitching details, but that is not the biggest concern in my mind at this point... yet.

Is Informale's better quality? Yes. Do I want to eventually get one Informale shirt after having tried it? Absolutely one day. I hope you'll eventually review a Kamakura shirt but if you do, I reckon you should size up by one compared to Informale's OCBD and also get the 'American Sea Island Cotton' version because it will be thicker with a better drape than the regular cloth. However, absolutely don't hope for a shirt that will match up with Informale's insane quality.

There are two OCBD I consider best of show because they use proper cloth, collar (roll) and construction, and they come not-prewashed (you have to break them in with use) and are made without the annoying lining and fusing. First, come from O'Connell's, a traditional men's wear store (mostly Ivy style) in Buffalo, NY. These are made in the USA and come in two weights. The heavyweight version I would consider the best OCBD available: unfused, unlined, 3+ inch collar, and a not too boxy fit. (Of course there is the box look, the proper cuffs, etc.) The regular weight O'Connells is pretty great too and is an excellent year 'round wear. Next, JPress in the slim fit and the flap pocket are a close second to O'Connells. Slim fit because these are quite full cut and the flap pocket because that's old school correct. Proper rolls, no fusing, no lining, so correct. Kamakura is a fine shirt but the collar points are not long enough. Wythe has lining, so disappointing and they are preached and the fit is not Ivy proper---too modern, too much fashion.. Gitman Vintage is a good choice and the fit is superb.. Drakes using high quality fusing and lining and so fits more like a dress shirt but thus utterly fails the true OCBD litmus. Also noteworthy is Mercer & Sons and their hand cut and sized OCBD is proper in every way---these are best made to order. Contemporary Brooks Brothers is, sadly, horrible and the rest are just cheap or make some deal-breaking mistake (collar length and roll, fusing, cloth quality, etc.).

your style of speaking is relaxing to listen to, strangely.

do you have any balmoral boots? they're versatile as they look like oxfords when wearing jeans over them. no overlapping top piece of leather as on derby boots. quite like meermin, good price.
