Holmes 1 Touch Box Fan

Holmes 1 Touch 20" box fan. This is another fan I found in the trash during Cleanup Week 2016. I remember these being sold at Target, was never all that interested in them but it's a pretty unique thing to find now. Cleanup went really smoothly, it's in really good shape. 1 Touch is a pretty unique control system, but I dislike that it's only two speeds and whoever thought one button to operate EVERYTHING was a good idea should be slapped. As you can see, it's ridiculous having to cycle through so many thermostat settings just to get where you want to be speed-wise. The thermostat does function, it was a little sporadic here being that the temperature swings all over the place while I film with the lighting and such. The rotating grille produces a really interesting pattern, I tried to capture that with the wind noise on the video. Decently built for a recent fan, I like the wider cabinet and the motor in particular.

Had mine for about 20 years I think. Just conked out on me and couldn’t get the motor working again. Hated to part with it. Loved the fact that the face rotated. The ones they make now are flimsy pieces of garbage.

I have the manual controls on mine, and I love it. I did have one of the digital ones too, but I agree the two speed and that one button drove me nuts. Haha.

I think the one button control would be better if the fan came with a remote. yes box fans with remotes do exist. it's also great to see that rotary box fans still exist in the us. I believe toastytech did a rant on that control system on his website...

Id kinda like to find one of these. just cause its such an odd style of box fan.

This box fan is pretty cool. Does the front grille electrically rotate or do you have to manually rotate the grille?

also if you press and hold the button it will turn off and then when you press it again to turn it on it will come back on the setting it was on before it was powered off. had a couple of these back in the day.
