According to the Nintendo Power interview, Big Man worked on composing this song for 6 weeks straight and it went through 7 revisions.

Why does my funny squid game have unironically some of the best music i’ve ever heard in my life

This song is just SO WARM. There is such a strong sense of community- this makes me wish festivals were more of a thing in the US...

A blend of indian, north african, east asian, and brazilian musical influences. That fits within the game and the lore and i like the ethnical blending

Funny thing.

"Deep Cut" apparently is a musical term used to describe an outlier in an artist's filmography.

This can be described as a Deep Cut too as it definitely takes more Traditional Asian roots in its music.

A little thing I noticed early is that Shiver and Frye sound like they're out of breath. If you played the story mode or paid attention, Shiver is a shark tamer and Frye is a Eel charmer, both alongside Big Man are treasure hunters who do singing as a side thing, compared to Callie and Marie who basically spent their whole lives singing, Pearl who had some experience before, and Marina was an upcoming DJ so she had some practice beforehand.

I'm not even a Splatoon fan (I hadnt had a chance to play it) but man this slaps. I love the cultural blend

I learned the choreography for Frye's dance, and let me tell you, dancing to this is _so much fun._ Leaves you out of breath, but it's awesome!!

Ik she's intended to be like an Indian/S. Asia rep, but the way Frye sings in her part kinda sounds like how Thai poetry is read and that's why I love it so much.

Interesting note because I love stupid details like this!!!
Ok so with earbuds and headphones you can make different sounds come from different ears, and in all squid sisters songs Callie is sung in the left ear and marie is sung in the right ear so it sounds like they are separated and singing to you specifically.
Meanwhile, from what I can tell in this song, Deep Cut is positioned in front of you, not just ambiently in the ears but specifically in front of you.
Plus, Shiver and Frye are still in different places, left and right respectively, as well as big man in the center. All the sounds are coming from around the same area, in front of you.
AND THAT PARALLELS THEIR LOCATIONS ON THE SPLATFEST BOAT THING
All of them in roughly the same place but discernably to the left and right, and Big Man in the center!
THAT IS SO AMAZING
And actually another thing! The way they are positioned being in front of you contrasts from the squid sisters singing to YOU and instead implies they're singing to a CROWD
LIKE A FESTIVAL

I hate to make it about myself, but I hope one day we get a native idol because they seem to do AMAZING representation in a silly little squid game, so it’d be nice to finally have a well-written native character! I’m also in love with Frye’s character because they didn’t cheap out, plus made her nice and dark! Her outfit is casual, yet represents her culture. I love this damn game.

Callie and marie represent Japanese j-pop idols. Pearl represents Rap idols, Marina represents DJ singers, Shiver traditional japanese women, Big Man traditional Japanese man, and frye represents idian and brazilian idols I LOVE DEEP CUT

Best part of this song is the fact that when you're watching the Splatcast, all you get is the drums. But then when its ending it ramps up and breaks out into the full song. Its like they actually paused the music to go give an update, then right after leaving BOOM start right back up. Bombastic as can be

somthing i learned recently is that a good amount of people of japanese background migrate to brazil, so the harmony makes sense on a whole other level, just somthing i thought id share, hmu if incorrect, but cant deny this sounds awesome!

I feel its a mix of Japanese, Brazilian, and Indian which makes this kind of splatfest very very culture
