Barcelona academy is like a school, kids leave their homes and reside at la masia where they are taught normally and also have rigorous training

A few years ago, in the Polish Ekstraklasa football team Pogoń Szczecin, there was an era of Brazilian players. Due to the club's "smart" decisions and concerns about their partying lifestyle, they were placed in a shared house located 300km away from the city where the club was based. Just imagine how much fun they had commuting such a distance for home games and training sessions ;)

I was in the West Brom academy and honestly the travelling is the worst bit, my dad would even have to turn down work to pick me up early from school to go train.

Just sayin... Training sessions are not only the 90min, usually you would wake up at 7a, 8am you would go for a warm up; jog and sprints. 9am start the actual practice, that would have many stages that could vary from tactics, game situations, set pieces and everything that's directly related to the game, and than a few days a week there would be gym sessions after that. So you are actually looking at practice from 8AM-11h30AM/12AM. Of course it depends on the day and institution but that how it went from my experience

This is the harsh reality for kids, if they really want to go pro, you have to sacrifice essentially everything in your life and just focus on your craft
