We all recall our Driver Ed car-mine was a '73 Pontiac Ventura. Vanilla white, tan vinyl bench seats with a 6 cyl and 2 speed automatic. Perfect learner car as it could not get out of its own way. 55 MPH was asking a lot of that motor vehicle.

I use to own a 74 Ventura hatch back. Loved it. Miss that car. Mine was brown. It had a 350 in it.

The Ventura's dented fender kept getting undented and redented through out the chase.

Airbags were first offered by GM in 1973 on full sized Cadillacs, Buicks, and Oldsmobiles at extra cost. They were called "ACRS" or "air cushion restraint system"Note the lady getting out of the 1966 Ford Country Squire to mail a letter.  She actually exits the rear door as the front door is already damaged and sprung, likely from a prior practice take.

The police actually had Oldsmobile 4 door hardtops as cruisers? Note that that '74 or 75 Olds had the RARE "ACRS"
airbag option. 1974-76 Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Caddys could be ordered with those airbags and they saved lives! Actually they were installed in one thousand matching 1973 green Chevy Impalas to test them, and they proved effective in saving lives. Sadly they were no longer available after 1976.

I like the Ventura...nice unfussy clean styling. I don't think I've ever seen a real one

That Ventura must be a Christine...crashed at the beginning and healed during pursuit...

I was off by one year, the airbags were offered experimentally in 1973 but a regular production option the following year 1974, which is the year of the Oldsmobile in this picture.

Stephen McHattie looks a LOT like Peter Weller in this chase. Oddly if you search "Moving Violation" you'll also get the campy 1985 comedy "Moving Violations" that has Peter Weller as a headliner.

Gotta love the days when they would endanger, injure, almost kill people and destroy thousands of dollars in property to catch someone.

I had a girlfriend with a new Ventura back in the early 70's, don't remember what engine it had, but it wasn't very fast lol
