‘SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands’ - Hand Hygiene Day 2022

The message about keeping our hands clean is drummed into us from childhood and COVID-19 has certainly brought that message to the forefront – most of us had never before had hand sanitiser on the shopping list!
But of course it’s a whole new level for healthcare workers. Clean hands are a matter of life and death. The message from the World Health Organisation is simply that: ‘SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands’ is aimed towards ensuring that ‘all health-care workers clean their hands at the right time and in the right way.’

Today is WHO World Hand Hygiene Day and the focus is on recognising that we can add to a facility's climate or culture of safety and quality through cleaning our hands but also that a strong quality and safety culture will encourage people to clean hands at the right times and with the right products.

So today let’s ‘Unite for Safety’- keep those hands sparkling, knuckle down on our hand-washing habits and ask yourself:
“how many times have you cleaned your hands today?”
