"TrAcKs ArE tOo eXpeNsIvE"

Also them: shredding +$1000 worth of tires weekly if not daily, risking/damaging their car and themselves that could cost them a ton

"Tracks are too expensive" proceeds to nail a curb sideways while doing donuts and rips their wheel off with the spindle and suspension still attached.

My friends group grew up not wanting to hold up traffic and cause a lot of attention to ourselves. We kept our groups small and went to industrial areas in Los Angeles or empty cul-de-sacs around 2am with no houses or pedestrians around so we wouldn't hurt anyone or ourselves. When we did have police come check us out, we never ran and they were always pretty chill and never gave us tickets. Usually just asked us to leave soon or sometimes even just hung out with us. These takeovers killed the car scene.

People who say the track is too expensive, don’t have the humility to be around others better than them.

“$35 is to much for me to go destroy several hundred dollars worth of tires safely”” so let’s waste several hundred worth of tires running over each other”

At the end of the day, the MAIN reason why these Slideshows, or Street Takeovers are so mainstream now is because of all of the Chargers, Challengers and Trackhawks that were seamlessly injected into the scene. Yes it’s been a thing for years, but those who get their hands on power with a ridiculous dose of Zero Fucks Given are the ones who’ve been ruining it for everyone else.

Here I thought track days were thousands not cheap like that

Only takeovers I don't mind are the ones on an abandoned country road where you can see for miles. They put trucks with flashers on either end and if someone needs to go through they call the guys in the passenger seats of whatever cars are racing, and they stop and let people through. Not technically legal but they're at least being safe about it.

Thank you. Takeovers are gonna be the reason we lose the ability at all to enjoy our cars.

Facts, takeovers are pretty popular in Chicago and I always see people getting run over or get hit by a swinging car, people get too close, or sometimes they’re spin out into the crowd, these takeovers fr can get people hurt real quick

This feels like where gang culture and car culture collide.

Takes something fun and turns it into a felony.

The Toronto scene has been really bad in recent years, find it hard to say I'm a car enthusiast when I get associated with takeovers.

Well said. Not having enough money is an invalid excuse as you’re gonna need a new car and tires the way you’re driving, let alone if you get a ticket/crash/go to jail mane

Here in Australia, majority of us either go to the harbour or go to the industrial side of town at night time

Glad you put this in the spotlight. People think that if you like cars then you're a jerk because of this stuff but most enthusiasts don't wanna be a part of them.

Growing up in Miami, you see this every weekend. It's crazy cuz imagine a man trying provide for his family then getting walked by a speeding challenger

Track days are about $100-$200, the minimum California ticket is $500, a speeding ticket is $1K, and it goes on and on. By spending the $100-$200, you are not endangering lives, and get to race without worry of getting pulled over. Track days are always worth it.

That's why I love having a crown vic with a light bar and sirens on it. Watching everyone run after I tap the siren on
