bro you’re seriously apologizing for getting your masters and finding a full-time job? that’s ridiculous. most of the people in this comment section are barely hanging on and you’re out here achieving your dreams, W for you king

We need a Coltrane guide, please. I don't care if the wait takes a year or two, just tell us you will do it. Gave me chills when you introduced Trane in the quintet, that's just a crucial moment in history.

My ex boyfriend introduced me to Miles, he was a jazz bassist when we were dating and I was super lucky to learn about jazz and finding such amazing musicians thanks to him.
Also: Mandatory "omg you're back!" comment
Edit: PS. HE SUCKED AS A BOYFRIEND. DON'T DATE JAZZ MUSICIANS

I'm a simple man, I see a new deep cuts video, I remove my trousers.

I spend far too much mental space trying to figure out why I can't stand Rick Beato - a fellow guitarist with millions of You Tube subscribers who tries to position himself somewhat like Oliver - a devoted and knowledgeable fan. But, he falls into the trap of coming off as someone who only wishes that the greatness of the stars he admires would rub off on him and make him famous. Dear Rick is the master of the obvious, creator of the time-wasting video that tells you what you already know. Contrast that to Oliver here, whose "50 top records of the 2010 decade" has provided me with at least 6 months of listening to music I've - for the most part - never heard.
Oliver is that rare bird among modern music historians - a devoted fan who digs deep and never fails to unearth hidden gems. Thanks for all your hard work, Oliver.

A quality, high-effort channel like this will survive any hiatus. You can afford to take your time

22:18 “back on the horse” bad choice of words
Also great to see you back! You’re responsible for me getting into death grips, math rock, prog rock, and jazz

I don't know where to start - I stumbled onto this channel as a result of a reddit post in r/jazz - and I couldn't be more impressed. I've been a Miles fan for thirty years, read his autobiography while traveling in Europe (four years after it was published) and I've spent years following threads of the jazz weave - each lending greater understanding and appreciation for the genre and the insane talent of these individuals. You have done SUCH a good job of this. Your presentation is engaging, considered, entertaining, tasteful, and filled with nuggets of pure gold - historical highlights are carefully selected - the temporal atmosphere anchoring these performances - everything is considered. I'm so grateful.

I can't say enough about this. What a lovely gift. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

While not optimal for fully appreciating the music, there's something genuinely beautiful about watching this with the playlist going in the background.

Things that made a comeback:
- Tool
- Jai Paul
- Deep Cuts
- Valve announcing they're making video games.

That's one hell of a choice to come back.
And there's a part 2 coming, just incredible.

Listen to Charlie Parker's "Billie's Bounce" on Savoy. Miles' solo is unlike anything he's done with any of the other Parker sides and with no Dizzy Gillespie influence. Miles is confident, plays long notes. is melodic, and shows a style he will later use in 1949 on "Birth of the Cool".
