PM Modi arrives in Russia for two-day visit, receives guard of honour

PM Modi arrived at the Vladivostok International Airport for two-day Russia visit. He received a guard of honour on his arrival in Vladivostok. PM Modi will attend the 5th Eastern Economic Forum as the chief guest. He will also hold the 20th India-Russia Annual Summit with Putin. The Indian diaspora in Russia welcomed PM Modi at the Far Eastern Federal University.

In international diplomacy relationships changes with times. Allies and partners change seats over the period of time. But then there are some relationships, to which you are committed for its sheer nostalgic value, even if other factors become irrelevant. Russia is one such friend of India, which can never be forgotten. The only country which stood with us when we were being bullied by US and other european countries. The only country which believed in us before ISRO became a mighty organisation. The only country that supported us in UN time and time again, standing against the wills of the masters of the world. Our ties with Russia is much deep rooted than few trade and defense deals. I hope, we as indians wont let our proximity to US and other european countries now, come in the way of emotional bond that we share with russians. Diplomatically it may not mean much, but we will lose a true friend indeed, if we ever allowed that to happen. Even if India becomes the world power someday, it will never forget the contribution of russians at each and every step of our way.
